The GAMA Sanitation and Water Project has organized a two-day Training of Training (TOT) on designing and sewing reusable sanitary products for SHEP Coordinators, Girl Child Coordinators, and Social Welfare and Community Development officers in the Ashanti Region. The Training, which was facilitated by Madam Charlotte Adjei Marfo, Capacity Building Coordinator of the GAMA Sanitation and Water Project, emphasized the need for the training and urged the participants to train the girls to use the appropriate sanitary products during menstruation and prevent period poverty among vulnerable girls in their various municipalities.
The project is supporting the pad bank of the region and the Municipalities with 100 cartons of sanitary pads to support vulnerable girls to menstruate confidently and with dignity and remain in school during menstruation. This complements the construction of gender-conscious and disability-friendly toilet facilities for schools in GKMA by the project.
